It is with deep sadness that Cosumnes River Aquatics Swim Team acknowledges the passing of our coach, mentor and friend Matt Casto. Matt was taken from us on June 22, 2010. His gift for and love of swimming will live on in each of his swimmers and their families. His beautiful smile and giving, fun-loving nature are just a few of the wonderful qualities we will miss. Please view and contribute to the blog set up in his honor at www.mattcastomemorial.mp .

WELCOME

Cosumnes River Aquatics (CRA) has been providing a positive experience for swimmers of all ages for over 20 years in the Sacramento and Elk Grove areas.  We have a team of trained coaches working with Head Coach, Matt Casto, to help each swimmer reach his or her full potential.  Our team swims at the Cosumnes River College (CRC) pool located near the northwest corner of the CRC campus.

CRA is a year-round, competitive team in the Sierra Nevada Local Swimming Committee (LSC) of the USA Swimming League.  This means that each swimmer and family has access to a wide range of resources from the local level to the national swimming organization.  Please use the links in the left-hand column for detailed program information and to get started.  Thank you for considering CRA Swimming!

GATORS ON THE MOVE

Congratulations to our swimmers who qualified and participated in the 2010 Far Western Championship.  The team traveled to Morgan Hill to compete in the 4 day event with the swimmers posting many personal best times in this highly competitive swim meet.

PHILOSOPHY

At CRA we believe that the sport of swimming should be both physically challenging and fun.

There are two elements involved in the physical mastery of swimming: technique and conditioning. In our program we seek to provide both of these elements in the proper balance for each individual.   While some swimmers will improve more with technical instruction, others will excel through hard work.  Our coaches tailor their instruction based on individual levels of technical mastery and physical conditioning and seek to improve both.

We also know that honing skills and improving conditioning are very hard work.  So at CRA we strive to have fun, both in the carefree sense and in regards to achieving goals.  This is accomplished through annual activities like a camp-out meet and through regular practice work like creative drills and training games.

We hope this approach will provide each individual with an enjoyable and rewarding experience!

A BIG GATOR THANK YOU!

In the future, this will be where the CRA Board and/or Coaches thank individuals who go above and beyond to assist the team.
