Coach Matt has five years of coaching experience and has taught swimmers at the recreational, high school, junior college and year round-competitive level. He began swimming for CRA when he was five years old and continued into his teens. During these years, he set several records in recreational swimming, qualified for many Western Zones meets and All-Star teams and won numerous high-point championship titles.
In junior college, Coach Matt was the 2002 State Champion in the 200 meter breaststroke and in 2003 was the National Champion in the 200 I.M., 400 I.M., and 200 meter breaststroke. At the University of California Davis, Coach Matt swam for one season and set school records in the 100 and 200 meter butterfly, 100 and 200 meter breaststroke and the 400 I.M. He was also named the 2004 Pacific Coast Swimming Conference Swimmer of the Meet, helping his team win the conference title that year.
Over the years, Coach Matt has learned various coaching techniques from some of the best minds in the sport and has taken this experience and knowledge to adapt his own personal coaching style. While working at Sacramento City College, he gained insightful coaching experience while working as an assistant to Koren Pollock. He is dedicated to promoting fun and competitiveness while creating an enjoyable social environment for his athletes.
